Juan Dabid Embus - Colombia

Cauca is a department in Colombia occasionally overshadowed by its more famous neighbors, Nariño and Huila, but this Aruzi lot from Juan Dabid Embus points to the potential of both the region and the variety. This is our first time roasting coffee from Juan Dabid and his farm, La Bonita, where he grows primarily Aruzi across 10 hectares at 1,900 masl. Aruzi — sometimes called Bourbon Aruzi — is a still-emerging variety about which there is little definitive genetic information available, but the variety has grown in popularity and prevalence in recent years for its high cup quality potential. This particular lot offers focused stone fruit and tropical flavors with caramel sweetness and yellow floral aromatics.
