Danche - Ethiopia

Our third Ethiopian coffee of the season comes to us from Danche station in Gedeb, one of two sites operated by SNAP Specialty Coffee in the kebele of Chelbesa. Located just a few kilometers from Chelbesa station — its sister station whose coffees we’ve roasted for years — Danche was founded in 2019 to source and process cherry from farmers in the surrounding village. Around 800 smallholder producers contribute cherry to the station, where lots are processed as washed, natural, honey, and experimental preparations. Later this summer, we’ll feature a yellow honey lot from the same site. This washed coffee is juicy and tea-like, complex but approachable. We get layered acidity, florality, and nectar-like fruit, framed by light and crisp black tea tannins.
