Khun Narin - ///

I'm pretty sure this is our first selection from Thailand-which begs the question, what took so long? Khun Narin started humbly, playing events, parades, and weddings, before ascending to the pinnacle of international music fame: selection for The Good Thing Coffee + Vinyl subscription. In 2014, an American record producer stumbled upon the band through their YouTube videos, flew them to LA, and the rest is history. I highly recommend seeking those videos out. I loved this record already, but watching the music being played has made me appreciate it on a whole new level. Seems like a good summertime sunset record that could go on repeat through the making and enjoying of dinner. That's what I'm going to do.

Faver Ninco Pink Bourbon, Huila, Colombia

We're happy to share a fresh round of Pink Bourbon from Faver Ninco and Finca Costa Rica, his farm in Central Huila. This selection comes from the February harvest, nominally the "mid" harvest, which consists of smaller pickings from the period in between main harvests. In many producing contexts, coffees from the mid harvest can be quieter in the cup than those from the main, but Faver's coffee is an outlier. At around 2,000 masl, Finca Costa Rica sits at high elevation for the region, with cooler temperatures, more limited sunlight, and less regular rainfall - conditions that result in more sporadic flowering and, in turn, nearly year-round harvesting. While there is still a defined main harvest season, the cycles on Finca Costa Rica are overall less distinct. In the cup, we get a crisp profile with milder dark fruit acidity, sweet tropical flavors of mango and coconut, and a warming, malty finish.
