Bob Dylan - Oh Mercy

I was totally unaware of this record until I recently read Bob Dylan’s amazing “autobiography”, Chronicles. He spends an entire section of the book diving into the writing and recording of this album in New Orleans. When I finally listened to it one night at home my 7 year old piped up, “what are we listening to?” “Bob Dylan” I said. “It’s really good!” he said. As per usual, he’s right. I’ve been listening to this album nearly every day for 2 months now and it keeps getting better. It’s like a present that you never stop unwrapping. This is apparently often referred to as Bob Dylan’s comeback album. That seems rather ridiculous to me. I mean come on. This is Bob Dylan. Where’s he coming back from? Anyway, go read Chronicles if you haven’t yet.

April is here, and if in Maine we are not yet quite fully out of winter, we can at least see signs of spring’s long tease. Flurries in the forecast today, but the trees are budding, the flowers peeking out from the ground, and fresh crop Kenyan coffee is here — landed and roasted, on our cupping table and in your bag. This AA lot comes from the farmers of the Gitwe FCS (Farmers Cooperative Society) and the Karatu Factory in Kiambu. In the cup, we get a warming profile with notes of dried purple fruit, baking spice, and black tea.
