In the bleak midwinter there isn't much else we'd rather see hitting our menu than coffees from Ecuador. Last year was our first offering of Grace Morales, and we're happy to say that she's got more coffee this year and it's even better than last year. Grace and her brother work five hectares of the 350 hectare Finca Cruz Loma, having planted coffee on a small portion of land only just a few years ago. While the altitude of the farm isn't as high as other origins from which we source, the thick jungle surrounding Finca Cruz Loma helps moderate the climate in this northern region of Pichincha. We like to think of Ecuador as "little Ethiopia," with its coffees having lots of similar qualities that are found in Ethiopian coffees. This blend of Sidra and Typica is light and clean, with dramatic citrus notes, impressive sweetness, and delightful complexity.
