I can still remember years ago tasting the first coffee that ever made me stop and wonder exactly what I was drinking. That coffee, like this one right here, is a Kenya from Nyeri county, nestled on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. The volcanic soil and exquisite processing make this origin one we simply cannot pass up. The past several years have seen off harvests with low quantity and quality, but we're excited for this crop from the Giakanja Farmers' Cooperative Society. This AA lot was the clear choice from offer samples we cupped earlier this year, and it's a tremendous relief to have it show up in pristine condition. Giakanja, like other coffees from Kenya, has a tart, almost effervescent acidity that is balanced by some incredible blackberry and honey sweetness, plus just a hint of that classic Kenyan savory quality that makes, we think, coffee from this country taste so, so good.
