Back when we were selecting coffees to fill our line-up from Guatemala, we were struggling a bit to round out our menu. But, just as we were wondering where we might find just a little bit more coffee, our partners at Caravela sent us a small selection from a region in Guatemala we had never tried before. We were surprised and delighted by El Morito, and in the correspondence regarding pricing and availability, we found out that the farmer had just won Guatemala's Cup of Excellence with a washed gesha scoring above 91 points. This coffee represents a harvest of his more pedestrian varietals, but this coffee is expertly farmed and exquisitely processed, which resulted in textbook Guatemala flavors. Clean, crisp white grape acidity is backed by serious sweetness, plus a creamy nuttiness that reminds us of cashews. So drinkable, so good.
