Our latest coffee from Guatemala comes courtesy of CCS and Zelcafé, both of which sourced this blend of Bourbon and Caturra from El Bosque, the farm owned by Miriam Leal de Villanueva and operated by Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamorra. Luis Pedro manages many farms in Guatemala, and as the head of Zelcafé, took over management of El Bosque back in 2010. Chimaletenango lies about two miles north of Antigua, well in view of the famous conic volcanos of southern Guatemala whose rich soil provides nutrients for coffee plants all over the region. This was one of our favorite offerings we sampled this year, and it remains so today. This coffee has the classic flavors of Guatemala—bright, clean tree fruit qualities with tons of chocolate and delicious nuttiness.
