Nensebo Refisa is a fairly new coffee growing region in West Arsi, Ethiopia. Refisa is a town inside the Nensebo woreda, itself located in Oromia roughly 400 km south of Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa. This particular selection of coffee was from the 2019 harvest, selected in January of 2020 and kept frozen from the time it arrived in the states a few months later. We chose this coffee because it felt a bit like a wild card. It tasted much different than the usual coffees on the cupping table, and had deep sweetness and dark fruit characteristics that we don't usually find in washed Ethiopian coffees. That said, there's still plenty of familiarity here and incredible complexity, with bright, refreshing acidity and rich stonefruit and florals.
