This year has had no shortage of surprises, but a welcome one we weren't exactly expecting was to be wowed by this coffee from Mexico. Our pals at Osito worked with Red Beetle Coffee Company in-country to gain access to some of the more remote areas of the Sierra Mazateca mountains. This region is so far off the beaten path that logistics alone make it difficult to secure coffee, and factor in that these are closed indigenous communities whose people mostly do not speak Spanish. But, thanks to their diligence, we have a few precious bags of this coffee. Hopefully, we'll have access to more in the future, as Osito and RBCC work toward a QC station in that region, which would then be managed by someone from the community. This is exactly what we've come to expect from Mexican coffee, except it's bumped up several notches. It's soft and smooth with loads of rich chocolate, a spicy backdrop, and creamy mouthfeel. It's almost impossible to overstate how delicious this coffee is. Get it while you can because it won't be here for long.
